Treasure Part one

As promised on my live Facebook event tonight I am writing a blog about a theme you will find running through a lot of my work. Tonight I talked about the theme of treasure which runs as one of the main themes through my work.

There are a few reasons why treasure appears a lot in my work. Firstly I have always loved patterns. At university I majored in textiles, which added to my love for patterns. Even when I would do observational drawings I would love doing enlargements finding the patterns in a close up pepper for example. Along with treasure pattern has been a major way that I have developed the theme of treasure.

Right back when I started painting in Argentina my first ever piece was a piece of gold and from there I developed that theme in other paintings. Another theme is recycling which for me goes hand in hand with treasure but I will elaborate on that more in part two of this blog.
I started using spray on peels, the spray I used were metallic which once again created a treasure like impression. In later pieces I worked painted lines into the metallic pieces. That is when I devised the treasure patterns that you will see often in my work. In some paintings I have worked the treasure pattern into buildings.

Ok that's enough for now I will add more to this tomorrow so watch out for the next instalment.
